The wife & I were discussing attending the event. She wondered whether there would be many other women present. She doesn't want to be the only one around with no peers to discuss the woes of being a 'Harp Widow'.
Any others planning on bringing their 'other half' ?

That's an excellent question. Do you think it would help if we worked up a list of day-trip type activities that wives and GFs might do while husbands and BF's are harping it up at the camp? Holly Springs, for example, has some historic mansions that offer tours. Just say the word, guys, and I'll create a web page with this sort of stuff.

I know my wife would LOVE to get away at least one day of the event with the Ladies for some 'girl' stuff. (Sorry if that sounds sexist but, that's how she'd put it.)
Perhaps they would want to car-pool to some designated sights or shops or something. She could provide tranportation for at least three others.
Just trying to keep a smile on her face too.

My wife is interested but has asthma and can't be around smoke indoors and is therefore limited in where she can visit. Could someone give me a heads up on the laws and/or customs down there?
Thanks

If my wife does not have finals then she will be there.
This is all I want for my birthday so I'm laying on the guilt trip and batting my baggy, bloodshot, crows-footed, beady eyes. Wish I had big puupy eyes but it ain't happing for me.

Bringing my non-harp playing wife along. We booked into the Court Sqare B&B in Holly Springs. It's right in town so she can sight-see rather than spend all of her time with me.

My wife's staying at Harrah's in Tunica---about 60 miles away. She's doing a spa treatment and lounging and gambling a little. It looks like a really nice place. Gives me a looong drive AM and PM, but it gives her a vacation! That way, I have the car and her entertainment is self-contained.

Hey guys,
If your spouse stays at Harrah's (or such), in Tunica, you'd have the car (and a 60 mile trip each way.)
Otherwise, if you stay at Oxford, she needs to drive you 20 miles to Waterford, and 20 miles back twice a day, in order to have the car.
Look. I would prefer my wife in Oxford rather than at the slots at Harrah's. I feel Oxford has tons to offer. and probably cheaper. I'd even like to retire to Oxford. (Not sure Adam is on board for that---he'd HAVE to give a "neighbor" lessons.)
Just a thought: would Harrah's be "spousal abuse"?

Oxford is a wonderful town that rewards the casual visitor with lots of sightseeing, shopping, and quality hang-out opportunities. I'd send the wife there. My father-in-law lives in Senatobia (about 30 minutes south of Memphis, right off I-55), and so my wife and kids may come up and stay there.

William Faulkner's home is in Oxford for those literary buffs. Also, Oxford has the only government owned and operated Mary Jane patch just West of town.....no visitors allowed though!

My wife, Chris, is coming with me and and would love to spend some time touring. I looked at the sightseeing link and many of the homes require a 4 person minimum. We'll be at the crossroads Friday night so hopefully can get our wives together then. Tom

Well my wife is asking about going now, after I've already signed up. So if she decides she's coming, how do I pay additional $50? Just pay at the gate? Guess she knows I plan on having too much fun!!

My wife and I are going. We just booked a place at the state park. Asking her to put up with my harmonica and primitive camping would have been pushing my luck. I'm sure she'd enjoy doing some sightseeing with the other ladies.

This will be our second trip to HCH. That's right OUR, my Wife is coming also. We made the first HCH, two years ago. She got sick last year we couldn't make But were both booked for this year. I think, like most wives she is not really to interested in my harmonica music. She will however tag along. We both need a break anyway from the long winter here in Wisconsin. Were looking forward it. We will be camping on sight this year. Samll camper, were bringing a generator this time. Stayed Wall Doxy last time, it's very nice. I like the idea of the gals getting together. If she knows that, she will be more apt to want to also. See you all there !!

Bringing the wife. When should she be at the site, not to be bored stiff? I understand that food is available, but not supplied, correct?
Thanks

Yes,Wall Doxey is about 3 to 4 miles from the Foxfire Ranch. A very beautiful park ,very large trees, well shaded, with hookups. They do have a web site. The magnolias should be in blossom then, the aroma is heavenly.
